It is easy to tell that teaching is your passion.

Primarily due to the efforts of Read. Write., Speak, our child has progressed from being an average student in elementary school to achieving the “Principal’s High Honor Roll” for the first trimester in junior high school.
Sondra has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. Perhaps what sets Sondra apart from other exceptional teachers is her ability to relate to students and her positive, creative style of teaching that makes learning both meaningful and fun… she would be a rock solid addition to your child’s team of educators.

“My son always did well in school, but recently he had been completely unmotivated. Since preschool, I always took the time every week to sit down and build on his school work because I did not feel that Denver Public Schools were doing him justice, but those enrichment sessions were starting to turn into screaming matches, no matter how much I tried to keep my cool. My son finally got to the point that he said to me, with sass, “It doesn’t matter, Mom. The kid next to me doesn’t even speak English and she is going to make it to 4th grade. I’m going to make it to 4th grade no matter what.” After that grappling, I recognized that it was time for me to stop struggling against him and get someone to help him understand how important it was to apply himself in school- even if the environment he attended daily seemed to show him the opposing value. A friend of mine recommended Sondra to me and immediately my son connected with her vivacious spirit and love of education. He looks forward to her coming to our house to do school work and he cares about school again because he has Sondra’s encouragement and guiding. I wish that I had not been struggling at the kitchen table with my son for so long. It got to the point where I did not know what to do as a parent and I was desperate to get through to him. I was very lucky to find someone who really cares about how my child does in school and wants to make a difference in his life.”

She clearly defines “desired student outcomes and expectations” when teaching a lesson. She uses research-based instructional practices and has high expectations for her students and truly believes that each and every student can and will achieve.
Sondra Tutela was an amazing teacher for our daughter. Not only did I see a vast improvement in my daughter’s writing skills, I saw her level of creativity & enthusiasm for reading & writing increase as well, something to which I believe has greatly helped her adjust to her honors English class in middle school this year.
